About me

Hi! I'm Melissa, a 25 year old from Lanark in Scotland (it's kind of in the middle between Glasgow and Edinburgh!) During the day I work as the Marketing and PR Officer for New Lanark World Heritage Site, and I've also recently started working as an Independent Stylist for boutique jewellery brand Stella & Dot. 

I love reading beauty and fashion blogs, but I've often felt that as so many of the items were out of my price-range (£100 for a candle, hello?!) I wouldn't be able to realistically buy anything I read about. 

This gave me the idea for 'Beauty and the Bargain', a beauty and fashion blog for fashionistas on a budget who don't have the cash to splash but still want to look and feel great. Most of my posts aim to be on affordable items under £20 and will look at popular affordable brands such as MUA, Collection and NYC. I've also recently signed up for GlossyBox as a little monthly treat, so look out for review posts of all these amazing products!

Other things I enjoy are: musical theatre, cheese (all varieties), sequins, travelling, dog walks, vintage finds, 80's music, red wine and a good pub quiz.
